Eddie Scoggins
Former HSE Officer and Head of Safety at Hutchinson Ports
Eddie is a very experienced health, safety and environmental professional with over 30 years’ experience in a wide range of industry sectors. Eddie spent the first part of his safety career as an inspector with the Health and Safety Executive regulating health and safety in a wide range of industries including transport, logistics, docks and warehousing. He was promoted to Principal inspector and spent 10 years leading a team of inspectors in East Anglia to proactively inspect health and safety standards in local businesses, where workplace transport was a key theme, as well as investigating serious accidents in the workplace.
In 2015 Hutchison Ports asked him to become Head of Health and Safety for their UK operation which includes Britain’s busiest container terminal. As well as handling up to 4 million TEU annually the business could host up to 4000 hauliers daily together with over 30 container trains.
Over the course of his career, Eddie has gained extensive knowledge and experience in the management, theory, and practice of workplace transport safety. This knowledge has been gained from businesses that have set and maintained high standards as well as from incident investigations.
Eddie now runs his own safety consultancy.
