Distribution Director, John Lewis

John Munnelly is the Distribution Director at John Lewis & Partners, one of the UK’s leading retailers.

His career in logistics spans over three decades. During this time, he has experienced the industry from all angles - both third-party and in-house operations - with previous roles with TDG, Ryder, TNT, Shop Direct and Sainsbury’s. John has built up a wealth of experience and knowledge relating to all aspects of retail distribution, mainly specialising in operational start-ups for large-scale automated solutions, transport operations, direct-to-customer home delivery, and omni-channel fulfilment.

John has successfully managed many high-profile and technologically advanced projects. Working closely with suppliers such as Siemens, Knapp, VanDerLande, Witron, Manhattan Associates and JDA at all stages of project development and post-implementation running.

During his time at John Lewis & Partners, John was responsible for the design, build, and implementation of both the multi-award winning, semi-automated National Distribution Centre at Magna Park, Milton Keynes, and the Fenny Lock facility, which is now powered by advanced robotic technology.
